Onepoint spied on by Accenture? Mediapart revelations. McKinsey not profitable in France, says Clarisse Magnin

Crèches, consultancies, EHPAD, sneakers, the Ogres in all their diversity?

According to Mediapart, Samuel Tamba, an ex-IBMer working as a lobbyist for Accenture, sent an anonymous letter to the editors of Cash Investigation denigrating his competitor Onepoint, founded by David Layani, who spoke to a source about the spying. At McKinsey, we don't pay tax in France because we're not profitable, according to Clarisse Magnin, head of France.

Alexandre Fretti, ex-McKinsey and Webhelp, is to leave Malt. Having joined the BPO and customer relations specialist during Covid, the co-CEO of Malt, the freelance recruitment platform, has announced that he will be leaving by October. He has not yet explained the reasons for this rather sudden change of direction.

Tonight, Tuesday 17/09, Cash Investigation is devoting part of its programme to the links between the Mc Kinsey consultancy and the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and has therefore been seeking to interview Clarisse Magnin, the head of the prestigious consultancy in France, for months. But to no avail. Finally, the journalist and her team succeeded by interviewing her in the street, Brut-style, before a conference she was due to give at a Paris law firm. The executive gave Elise Lucet an answer that will go down in history. The firm, which generates turnover of around €350 million in France, paid virtually no tax, ‘because it is not profitable in France’, according to Clarisse Magnin.

According to Mediapart, Samuel Tamba, Accenture's head of government affairs and public policy, a lobbyist with a degree from Centrale Supélec, has put into practice what he learned at the school of economic warfare. He is said to have sent an anonymous letter to the journalists of Cash Investigation, in which he asserts that, thanks to his parties and privileged relations with several members of the government, David Layani's company would benefit from privileged access to the defence markets. Despite the care taken by Samuel not to leave any trace of this letter or his computer, Elise Lucet's team did not take this letter into account for its report, as the anonymous source who revealed its source could not be found or interviewed.

Sneakers. Wethenew, the marketplace selling authentic and limited edition sneakers, is in a bad way but hopes to emerge from its receivership. Contacted by us, the two co-founders explain that the downturn in the sale of limited-edition trainers, such as the Air Jordan 1, from mid-2023, would have considerably damaged the profitability and economic equilibrium of the SME. The company would have generated sales of around €80 million in 2023, was profitable in December but saw its sales plummet thereafter. The company, which raised €10 million from the Singular fund and then from others (C4 Ventures and Groupe Chalhoub), has raised a total of more than €30 million. According to the company's directors, it is facing changes in commercial policy at Nike, Adidas, New Balance and Hoka, which would alter its distribution policies and preferred retailers.

On the forums, a large number of customers are complaining that their orders are not being delivered, or that money is not being transferred after the trainers have been sent out, and that they are being resold after authentication.

‘We have indeed downgraded the customer experience for our customers, but this is temporary. We previously had over 5,000 reviews on Google and Trustpilot and a rating of 4.8,’ say David Benhaïm and Michael Holzmann. Interested candidates have until 23 September to submit offers to take over the company, which employs 94 people, 73 of them on permanent contracts.

BHV, which has been taken over by SGM, the Société des Grands Magasins, has accumulated a large number of late payments to various suppliers. ‘The fault lay with the disconnection of the old payment system’. After justifying the delays with this argument, Frédéric Merlin, one of SGM's partners, points out that profitability has improved in recent weeks and that the company will therefore be able to meet its supplier payments.

How to become and stay a millionaire Xavier Niel's show at the Olympia tomorrow evening is highly topical. As is Les Ogres, the new revelatory (?) book by Victor Castanet, who has infiltrated the nursery sector. The Big Four of the childcare sector, Babilou, People&Baby etc... are reportedly on the case, in anticipation of the revelations. You can read and find out more tomorrow in bookshops. But the IGAS had already published a surprising report on the practices and prices of cots. Flammarion is more effective than IGAS when it comes to launching a book: Victor Castanet has already been a guest on a number of morning shows for his second book.
